This was such a special day to document.
It’s even more special when I get to document a lifetime homecoming for a friend, Shelly whom I met back in Maryland. She is real, funny and such a beautiful soul.
Shelly reached out to me after she knew that her hubby, Mic is coming home from his longest deployment (10 months), completely unexpectedly! (and I couldn’t be happier for them!) She asked me to photograph their family and keeping it as a big secret from their lovely daughters that their dad will be at their photo session.
And so, the day has come to document this family… I am overwhelmed, so very excited, nervous and just praying this session will go smoothly... I know this is going to be so emotional for everybody. Shelly arrived looking so gorgeous with the girls (wearing their cute patriotic dresses) at the location. We started the session by capturing a few shots with her and the girls (the girls still don’t have any idea their dad is coming!).
During the session, I guided the girls and had them pose, explaining what to do etc. when their Dad sneaked behind them and revealed himself!!!! ---- the girls were totally in AWE seeing their dad!
Shelly stood back and let them have their moment, and knew her time with him was coming. :) After so many months her husband is home! ... and she could breathe again.
I really couldn’t help myself teary eyed in this session while photographing them.
You can’t recreate this moment! It truly is a real life, Hallmark moment! Soooo much emotions and love!
I’m so happy this family is reunited again, FOREVER and that their lives can move forward together. So honored to be capturing these heartfelt moments and not to mention --- this a beautiful and wonderful celebration ---- in the middle of global pandemic.
Thank you, Mic for your service to this country and welcome home!
